When trying to do the exam in the rapid developer track (the beginner track), I get the following error: Unauthorized Your account has not been authorized to use this application. No permissions for this app have been assigned to your account. Try again or contact your app administrator if this problem persists I figured this was because my profile is not public, or because I have not activated my account, but I have done both. How do I solve this?

Did you register at https://gettingstarted.mendixcloud.com/link/certification/rapid? Probably you did.
Might want to contact Mendix by raising a ticket at support.mendix.com
