Can we have a component deployed individually out of an .mpk file? I mean is it a must to deploy the entire package or can we create a sub package out of the main package and deploy it?

You must deploy the whole package. There are no component deployment capabilities in Mendix (yet).

A Mendix deployment package needs to be deployed as a whole.
