One of the biggest downsides of datagrids is how clunky their UI is.
If we could de attach it that would give use the option to make them a bit more userfriendly, for example havinging a filter in a sidemenu like many online shopping stores have.
maybe have a "filter widget” that the datagrid can listen to?
we were doing some custom stuff, but our Lead Dev pointed out that the whole point of using MX is that it should create efficiency.
“We should be using as much default mx widgets as possible to gain speed.
if we are going to customize every little thing to create a better UX it might not make much sense to be using mx.” – lead dev
so it quickly boils down to
do we want efficiency, or do we want our application to be intuative to use.
(which shouldn’t be a choose you have to be making)
I agree, the best workaroud (with some downsides which arise with implementation) is de Grid Search widget collection. These should have platform support imho!
